Santa Monica, CA. 2016-2018.

Atelier 111 led the conceptual spatial and identity framework for Expo Station, a premium creative office development acquired by The Luzzatto Company in 2016 and located along the Metro’s Exposition Line in West Los Angeles. Positioned between Downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica, the project redefines transit-adjacent architecture as both connective infrastructure and elevated workplace environment. Designed as 80,340 square feet of vertically integrated creative office space across three levels, Expo Station emphasizes openness, light, and material clarity. Expansive outdoor decks extend the workplace experience outward, offering panoramic views from the Los Angeles skyline to the Pacific Ocean—reinforcing the building’s relationship to both city and landscape. Atelier 111’s role centered on shaping the building’s experiential character—aligning architectural form, circulation, branding, and environmental presence into a cohesive spatial identity. The result is a contemporary office environment grounded in movement, access, and innovation. In 2018, the project was fully pre-leased to the University of Southern California’s Lawrence J. Ellison Institute of Transformative Medicine, anchoring the development with a forward-thinking institutional presence that reflects the project’s commitment to progress, research, and transformative impact. Expo Station stands as a model of transit-oriented creative development—precise in execution, integrated in vision, and aligned with the evolving future of work in Los Angeles.
