Atelier 111, on June 7th, hosted a vibrant celebration of sound, style, and movement in the lower gallery. The Power of Dance brought together community, memory, and motion in an immersive evening led by DJ XO, whose jazz-house set pulsed through decades of rhythm and groove.

Guests arrived dressed in their favorite dance eras, transforming the space into a time-bending dancefloor layered with visual soundscapes and archival footage. The result was a collective expression—joyful, embodied, and unforgettable—where the past met the present through movement.

THE ARTISTS
SHAW HAYAKAWA (DJ XO)

Shaw Hayakawa, aka DJ XO, is a Japanese-Scottish DJ based in Taos, New Mexico. Shaped by formative years in Glasgow’s underground house and techno scene, XO brings a deep, intentional approach to sound. His sets weave together soul, funk, jazz, and disco—creating layered, genre-fluid experiences built for movement and immersion.

    ETHEREAL ECHOES

    Ethereal Echoes was an immersive sonic event at Atelier 111, featuring California-based composer Chuck Johnson and Taos-based quartet Bēon. Johnson’s evocative pedal steel melodies blended seamlessly with Bēon’s experimental fusion of electronic and handmade instruments, creating a resonant soundscape inspired by Taos and the surrounding high desert.
